Life as an expat has a lot of challenges. Nourishing friendships with people who you used to be friend before you left to live abroad can be challenging. Some friendships fade away, but there are friendships that neither distance, nor lack of communication can’t kill. With some friends it doesn’t matter how long how long you don’t see each other, when you meet, you just continue where you left when you last time saw each other. I was blessed with some such friends. When one of them got engaged and invited me to her wedding, I didn’t hesitate to book the trip to Edinburgh to celebrate her wedding day with her.

Every winter he comes to visit us in Lucerne to spend some quality time together. Impressed by our Zermatt experiences he asked us, if we could organise ski trip to this lovely village. Of course, we did.

What differs Zermatt from other villages and makes it special is Matterhorn – iconic pyramidal mountain that can be found on every box of Toblerone chocolate and countless Swiss postcards.

The city is located in the Styria Region (Štajerska) in the North-Eastern part of Slovenia and is best known for its thermal springs and annual spring carnival. We spent a weekend at Terme Ptuj enjoying its spa and wellness and exploring Ptuj’s Old Town.
Today’s Blast from the Past post is taking you to the the city of lights, to Paris. This set of photos was made during the sunny and warm weekend in May 2014 when my boyfriend and I surprised his mother with a birthday trip to Paris, a destination she had desired to visit for a long time.
When arranging my photos from trip to Milan previous Wednesday, I’ve come across photos of my city break in Rome back in December 2010. They’ve evoked some great memories of me and my boyfriend exploring ancient Roman heritage and historical streets and squares of Eternal city. Here are some of the photographs I took during this trip:
