Winter came to Europe early this year. First snow covered the mountains and allowed many non-glacier ski resorts in the Alps to open earlier than usual. My husband and I took advantage of this situation and started our ski season on the first weekend in December. As this was also the weekend of my birthday, we celebrated it while swishing down the perfectly prepared slopes of my favoured ski resort Melchsee-Frutt in Central Switzerland.
What to do on a sunny February day in Switzerland? You go skiing! Previous Saturday my husband and I did just that. We went to Melchsee Frutt, one of our favourite places in Central Switzerland.
Remember the joy when the first snow covered the earth and you just couldn’t wait to grab your sledges and run sledding to the hill nearby your house? I still remember all the fun and laughter I had while sledding when I was a child. Even though I am now grown up I still immensely enjoy this fun winter activity. Luckily, I live in Switzerland, a country where the winters are still still cold and snowy enough to allow me to practice this sport. Last year I’ve tried the sledding tracks in Grindelwald and a year before the tracks in Engelberg. This year, I went sledding to Rigi – a 1,789 meters high summit in Central Switzerland and it was great! There was enough of fresh snow, sun was out and my husband and I had a lot of fun swishing down the snowy terrain!
After we already thought winter has packed its bags and left for the southern hemisphere, it has returned and whitened the landscape with fresh spring snow. At that occasion, it’s time to write about my last day of 2015/16 ski season, I’ve spent at beautiful Melchsee-Frutt in Central Switzerland.
Stražun forrest is a large green space in my hometown Maribor in Slovenia and is a popular spot for walking and jogging. As it lies in close proximity to my parents’ home, I often go there for a walk with my parents’ dogs.
Few Sundays ago my husband and I went on a walk along the banks of Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee). We walked all the way from Ufschötti beach to Lido beach at the other side of the bay. Despite the changing weather (one moment we had sun, the very next it snowed), it was a nice walk. Here are few impressions from it:
Melchsee-Frutt is a truly special place where I keep returning to. It lies in the heart of Central Switzerland, on a high plateau at 1,920 meters above sea level. Previous Saturday my boyfriend and I went to Melchsee-Frutt to ski. We couldn’t chose a better day. The sun was out, the conditions were perfect and we had a fabulous ski trip to wrap this season.
Previous Sunday my boyfriend and I planned to go skiing. Early in the morning when the alarm started buzzing, none of us wanted to leave warm bed. Sounds familiar? We woke up few hours later, when it was already too late for day-ski trip. As we didn’t want to waste our day in front of the TV, we decided to sledging to Engelberg.
