If you live in Europe or you are basketball fan, you might have heard European basketball championship or EuroBasket 2017 came to an end on 17th September in the most amazing way I could imagine. Slovenian team won the gold medal and I was there to witness this historical moment. It was unforgettable!
In today’s Blast from the Past post I’m taking you to Trieste, a city in northeastern Italy by the Adriatic sea. Because it is very close to the Slovenian border, it was an ideal place to visit on a day trip back in autumn of 2008 when I still lived in Slovenia. Here are some photographs I took on this trip. I hope you’ll enjoy them!
Today’s Blast from the Past post is taking you to Verona in Northern Italy. I’ve visited this lovely town at the banks of river Adige in June 2010 in company of my husband. We strolled around the old town, which has been inscribed to the UNESCO Word Heritage List and enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of the city. Here are some photos we took while exploring Verona. Hope you’ll enjoy them.
While I’m packing and preparing for my trip to Seychelles, I’m remembering my past travels in yet another post from the Blast from the Past series. This time I would like to take you back to warmer days of June 2013 when I travelled to beautiful Sardinia in Italy. My husband and I spent our holidays touring the island, enjoying its beautiful beaches and exploring lovely towns and villages. This particular set of photos was taken in Bosa – one of most picturesque, but also most quiet and boring towns we’ve visited in Sardinia.
Blast from the Past is back! This time I’m taking you to one of the most scenic towns in Slovenia – to Piran. I’ve visited this lovely seaside town many times, but this set of photos was made on amazing day trip with my friends in spring 2008. Hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I enjoy exploring Piran on this trip!
In July, when UEFA Euro 2016 in France was in full swing, my husband, who is a big football (soccer) fan, asked me if I want to attend one of the matches of the tournament. Of course, I would never say no to attending one of the biggest sports event of this summer so we started planning our trip.
At the time, there were still many matches at the tournament to be played. After considering our schedules and the convenience of the locations of the venues, we decided to attend the semi-final match held at the Stade des Lumières in Lyon. At the time, we didn’t know which two teams are going to play. With the progress of the tournament it became known our match will be the played between Wales and Portugal. Because my father-in-law is huge fan of Portugal’s star player Christiano Ronaldo, he expressed the interest in him and and mother-in-law joining us. Just the few days before the match, we somehow manage to buy the additional two tickets for them. We’ve booked them the plane tickets and voila, what was meant to be trip of two, became a family trip. Continue reading
It has been a while since my last post, but now I’m back with a brand new post from the Blast from the Past series – a series in which I’m remembering my past trips and travels. This particular post is dedicated to the lovely town Lenzburg in Swiss canton of Aargau. This set of photos was made on various occasions during the summer 2013 when I was volunteering at the lovely Lenzburg castle.
After amazing road trip around Slovenia, I’m now house-sitting my parent’s home, trying to refill my batteries. While I still have to sort out my thoughts and impressions of this great trip, my memories of the holidays in Mallorca in September 2012 are already all sorted out. I’ve visited this great Spanish island with my husband and we had amazing time there. This particular set of photos included in my Blast from the Past series are dedicated reviving my memories of the visit of the scenic village of Valldemossa. Hope you’ll enjoy them!
Few days ago, when the sunny weather and summer temperatures finally reached Switzerland, I went for an evening cycle ride around Lucerne. Despite I already walked and cycled those areas many times before, I massively enjoyed the ride. It was great to rediscover the beauty of the place I now call home on such a lovely evening.
Hope you’ll enjoy the photos I took during my ride as much as I enjoyed making them.
Blast from the Past is back! Today I’m taking you back to the warm days of early September 2010 when my husband and I visited beautiful town of Bellinzona in Italian speaking part of Switzerland.
Bellinzona is the Capital of Ticino and is a home of one of the most beautiful UNESCO World Heritage sites in Switzerland: Three Castles, Defensive Wall and Ramparts of the Market-town of Bellinzona. Here are some of the photos my husband and I took during our trip: Continue reading
Life as an expat has a lot of challenges. Nourishing friendships with people who you used to be friend before you left to live abroad can be challenging. Some friendships fade away, but there are friendships that neither distance, nor lack of communication can’t kill. With some friends it doesn’t matter how long how long you don’t see each other, when you meet, you just continue where you left when you last time saw each other. I was blessed with some such friends. When one of them got engaged and invited me to her wedding, I didn’t hesitate to book the trip to Edinburgh to celebrate her wedding day with her.
