Despite I live in Luzern for some time now, I still haven’t explored all of its corners. Previous weekend my husband and I went to one of the parts of Luzern we’ve never been to – to Bireggwald, a peaceful forrest in the midst of Luzern with a lovely walking trails and plentiful of stunning panoramic views of the Lake Luzern (Vierwaldstättersee) and Mt. Pilatus.
Klewenalp-Stockhütte is small ski resort in Central Switzerland I have visited in mid-March with my husband. This ski resort consist of two areas: Klewenalp, which is accessible by aerial gondola from the village of Beckenried and Stockhütte , which is accessible by cable car from the village of Emmeten.
Meggenhorn Castle is a lovely 17th century castle located on the peninsula of Meggen on the northern shore of the Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne). It is one of my favourite places in Luzern area. The estate has been open for public since 1974 and has no entrance fee. It’s scenic and peaceful spot, popular with the locals, but not yet discovered by the masses of tourists.
Few days ago, when the sunny weather and summer temperatures finally reached Switzerland, I went for an evening cycle ride around Lucerne. Despite I already walked and cycled those areas many times before, I massively enjoyed the ride. It was great to rediscover the beauty of the place I now call home on such a lovely evening.
Hope you’ll enjoy the photos I took during my ride as much as I enjoyed making them.
Few Sundays ago my husband and I went on a walk along the banks of Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee). We walked all the way from Ufschötti beach to Lido beach at the other side of the bay. Despite the changing weather (one moment we had sun, the very next it snowed), it was a nice walk. Here are few impressions from it:
When my brother was visiting in the summer, my husband and I took him to Bürgenstock, a scenic place atop of a mountain ridge above the Lake Lucerne. Some may remember, we’ve already visited Bürgenstock earlier this year. Because we liked this place a lot, we decided to revisit with it my brother.
Luzern is located by the Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee). In the hot summer, as is this year’s, is the perfect spot to cool down. There are many public beaches all around the lake. Some are free of charge, while others charge entrance fee. Strandbad Tribschen is one of those who charge entrance fee. For a fee of 5 CHF (adult), you can enter the area and use the facilities: children’s pool, showers, dressing rooms, bar, football and volleyball fields, etc. For additional fee, you can borrow the sports equipment (e.g. sup, boat).
My brother visited us few weeks ago. It was already his sixth time in Switzerland, so we took him to the places he has not yet visited. On the second day of his visit we’ve took advantage of the sunny summer weather and went on the cycling trip to Stansstad, a small village in canton Nidwalden.
A past few weeks had been busy for me and my boyfriend. We had members of our families visiting. First we’ve explored the beauty of Swiss Alps and enjoy at the beaches of Lake Lucerne with my boyfriend’s grandmother and his parents. Soon after they left, my brother came to visit. On the first day of his visit he was tired of a long night train ride from Slovenia, so we just relaxed and enjoyed the gloomy summer day strolling around Luzern.
Recently, my boyfriend’s parents and his grandmother had come to visit us in Luzern. It was a special occasion as the grandmother is in her 80s, it was the very first time she travelled by plane and also the first time she visited Switzerland. We wanted to make her stay even more special and memorable, so we decided to show her some of the best of Switzerland: the Swiss Alps.
