Summer day at Mürren, Schilthorn & Lauterbrunnen

When our friends come to visit us in August, my husband and I decided to took them to the picturesque village of Mürren and 2,970 m high summit Schithorn in Berner Oberland (Bernese Oberland). With its majestic mountains, charming little villages, and unspoiled nature is one of my favourite regions of Switzerland.

Video: Ski trip to Klewenalp Stockhütte

Days are getting shorter and shorter and temperatures are slowly, but steadily dropping. Winter is well on its way to the Northern hemisphere. I’m already dreaming about snowy sunny winter days at the ski slopes. While counting the days till then, I’m reminiscing about my past ski trips, more precisely about one particular trip – trip to Klewenalp Stockhütte in Central Switzerland where I’ve skied on a sunny day in March.

Hiking the Grosser Mythen

1st August is Swiss National Day – the public holiday celebrating the foundation of Swiss Confederation. On that particular day in 1291 the representatives of three original cantons Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden (today split into Obwalden and Nidwalden) formed an alliance. This action is now regarded as the founding of Switzerland and is annually celebrated all across Switzerland with different events and fireworks.

My husband and I spent this year’s the Swiss National Day in a very Swiss way: we went hiking. Our destination was 1.898 m high mountain Grosser Mythen located in canton Schwyz. Continue reading

Mt Pilatus hike

Like every year in the summer, my husband’s parents came to visit us in Lucerne. Because they recently got crazy about hiking, their visit was supposed to be a series of hiking trips around Swiss Alps. Unfortunately due to the rainy weather, we’ve only managed to do one hiking trip. This was the trip to Pilatus, Lucerne’s home mountain.

Cycling Trip to Zug

Few weekends ago, my husband and I took advantage of the sunny weather and went cycling. We cycled 30 km long section of the national cycling route number 9 from Luzern to Zug.

One of the gorgeous spots by the river Reuss on the cycling route no. 9

The cycling route number 9 is a 497 km long route between Montreux and Rorschah. Because it passes many beautiful Swiss lakes, including Lac Léman (Lake Geneva), Bodensee, and Lake Lucerne (Vierwalstättersee), it is also known as “the Lakes route”. Continue reading

2017 Geneva International Motor Show

Previous week my father and brother came to their annual spring visit. Like in previous years, we’ve spend some quality family time together while exploring what the Switzerland has to offer. Fist of our trips together was to Geneva where we’ve attended the International Motor Show – the first major international automobile exhibition of the year where world’s most important automotive brands exhibit their vehicles.
