When our friends come to visit us in August, my husband and I decided to took them to the picturesque village of Mürren and 2,970 m high summit Schithorn in Berner Oberland (Bernese Oberland). With its majestic mountains, charming little villages, and unspoiled nature is one of my favourite regions of Switzerland.
On a sunny Sunday in June I’ve visited gorgeous Oeschinen Lake (Oeschinensee) for the second time. Some of you might remember, I’ve already been there previous summer and I loved the area. When friends invited us to go hiking there, my husband and I didn’t hesitate long before we accepted the invitation to this stunning alpine lake in the midst of the Swiss Alps.
Despite it doesn’t seems winter has come to an – it snowed in Luzern yesterday, my skis and ski equipment are already safely stored in our storage room. Looking back, this ski season wasn’t as plentiful as the previous ones (2015/16, 2014/15), but I still manage to spent some great time at the slopes.
- Grindelwald (January & March 2017)
- Melchsee Frutt (February 2017)
- Klewenalp-Stockhütte (March 2017)
- Sankt Moritz – Corviglia (March 2017)
Total: 5 days of skiing
In January I’ve skied the snowy slopes of Kleine Scheidegg – Männlichen ski area located in the Swiss Alps above the village of Grindelwald in Jungfrau Region . You can read more about this trip here; here is the video of the snaps from that great day on snow. Hope you’ll enjoy it!
A week and half ago, my husband and I finally started ski season and went skiing to one of our favourite places ski, to Grindelwald in Berner Oberland. Some of my followers are probably aware I love this ski resort. Ski slopes there are great, the landscape is stunningly beautiful, the infrastructure is good and it is close enough to Luzern for a day ski trip.
On a warm sunny August Sunday my husband and I went exploring the jewels of one of the most beautiful regions of Switzerland – Berner Oberland. Our destination was beautiful Oeschinen Lake (Oeschinensee), a stunningly beautiful alpine lake located in the mountains above the village Kandersteg in Oeschinen Valley.
Jungfrau Region is with its majestic alpine scenery one of my favourite regions of Switzerland. It is an area I always like to return to. After a great sledging trip to Grindelwald few weeks ago, my husband and I returned to this region two weeks later to go skiing to our favourite slopes of the region Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen.
The weather forecast for the past weekend wasn’t too promising – the rain in Luzern and snow in the most of the alpine resorts. While neither I nor my husband likes to ski in such conditions, we decided to skip skiing this weekend. Instead we went sledging. Our destination was lovely village of Grindelwald in Jungfrau Region in Bernese Oberland. We’ve been there many times before – for skiing and hiking, but never for sledging.
Jungfrau Region is home of numerous well-groomed sledging tracks and is a great place to go sledging. We’ve opted out for Grindelwald’s run from Kleine Scheidegg to Grindelwald-Grund, a spectacular sledging track at the foot of one of the the iconic Swiss mountains – Eiger. Continue reading
This summer my husband and I spent some of our weekends exploring Swiss Alps. One of our trips brought us to Grimselwelt, an alpine region in western part of canton Bern covering the Grimsel and Susten pass roads as well as the mountain areas nearby. This was our second time in the area and for sure it’s not the last time.
Switzerland is facing the heatwave and I can barely find the way to cool down myself. In this Blast from the Past post I am taking you to cooler days of previous summer when I have visited Lake Brienz, an lake of amazing colour in the Berner Oberland. I enjoyed a beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains on a cruise. Here are some photos from that trip:
