Ski season 2016/2017 – summary

Despite it doesn’t seems winter has come to an – it snowed in Luzern yesterday, my skis and ski equipment are already safely stored in our storage room. Looking back, this ski season wasn’t as plentiful as the previous ones (2015/16, 2014/15), but I still manage to spent some great time at the slopes.

Video: Ski Trip to Grindelwald

In January I’ve skied the snowy slopes of Kleine Scheidegg – Männlichen ski area located in the Swiss Alps above the village of Grindelwald in Jungfrau Region . You can read more about this trip here; here is the video of the snaps from that great day on snow. Hope you’ll enjoy it!

Opening of ski season in Grindelwald

A week and half ago, my husband and I finally started ski season and went skiing to one of our favourite places ski, to Grindelwald in Berner Oberland. Some of my followers are probably aware I love this ski resort. Ski slopes there are great, the landscape is stunningly beautiful, the infrastructure is good and it is close enough to Luzern for a day ski trip.

Lake Oeschinen hike

On a warm sunny August Sunday my husband and I went exploring the jewels of one of the most beautiful regions of Switzerland – Berner Oberland. Our destination was beautiful Oeschinen Lake (Oeschinensee), a stunningly beautiful alpine lake located in the mountains above the village Kandersteg in Oeschinen Valley.

Sledging down the Eiger Run in Grindelwald

The weather forecast for the past weekend wasn’t too promising – the rain in Luzern and snow in the most of the alpine resorts. While neither I nor my husband likes to ski in such conditions, we decided to skip skiing this weekend. Instead we went sledging. Our destination was lovely village of Grindelwald in Jungfrau Region in Bernese Oberland. We’ve been there many times before – for skiing and hiking, but never for sledging.

Winter wonderland in Grindelwald

Jungfrau Region is home of numerous well-groomed sledging tracks and is a great place to go sledging. We’ve opted out for Grindelwald’s run from Kleine Scheidegg to Grindelwald-Grund, a spectacular sledging track at the foot of one of the the iconic Swiss mountains – Eiger. Continue reading

Tällihütte hike

This summer my husband and I spent some of our weekends exploring Swiss Alps. One of our trips brought us to Grimselwelt, an alpine region in western part of canton Bern covering the Grimsel and Susten pass roads as well as the mountain areas nearby. This was our second time in the area and for sure it’s not the last time.

Grindelwald: Snow. Sun. Ski.

I love sunny days and I love skiing. It is not surprise I highly enjoy day trip to the ski slopes of Jungfrau Region last week. The sun was out, the snow was despite warm weather good and I had a great company.  The day was absolutely perfect.

Männlichen slopes

This was not my first visit of Jungfrau region. I have been there before, most recent in January in Mürren. This time, I’ve returned to Grindelwald and my favourite slopes of the region – to Kleine Scheidegg – Männlichen. I like this area because it offers broad variety of slopes of all difficulties which are well connected. You can easily ski from Kleine Scheidegg to Männlichen and back (or reverse) without even taking your skis off. Continue reading
