Easy hike from Bürgenstock to Hammetschwand

Few weeks ago, my husband and I visited Bürgenstock, a lovely holiday spot in Central Switzerland located atop of a mountain ridge above the Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee)

You might remember I’ve already been there couple of times – last time in December 2017 when I celebrated my birthday at the Alpine spa of the Bürgenstock Resort, but it has been even longer since I hiked to the highest point of the ridge Hammetschwand. Since it has been so long, I’ve noticed things changed a bit. With the luxury resorts open, Bürgenstock became much more accessible by the public transport. Now you can not only take the bus, but also a ship and funicular to get there*. Hence the easier accessibility, the amount of people at Bürgenstock and Hammetschwand increased a bit. 10 Photos that will make you want to visit Mallorca

It has been a while since my trip to the Spanish island of Mallorca. Two months, to be precise, and I still haven’t posted anything about this trip. To give you a little preview of the content of some of my future posts, here are ten of my favourite photos I took while exploring this lovely little island in the middle Mediterranean. You might see some of them on my Instagram, but I still I hope you’ll enjoy them.

Blast from the Past: Bern

It has been a while since the last Blast from the Past (a blog series in which I’m reminiscing my past trips and travels). Don’t worry, I did not run out of photographs. There are still some left to share – starting with gorgeous Swiss capital Bern I’ve visited with my friends few years before I moved to Switzerland, on the first day of the year 2009. Stroll through the snowy cobbled streets and squares of Bern’s old town was a lovely way to start a year, wouldn’t you agree?

Video: Sirmione on the Lake Garda in Northern Italy

A year ago I travelled to Italy with my friends and husband. One of the places we’ve visited on that weekend-trip was lovely Sirmione located on the south bank of Lake Garda (Lago di Garda). We strolled the cute narrow streets and alleys, ate some delicious Italian gelato, marvelled the Scaligera Fortress, visited ruins of an ancient Roman Villa called Grotte di Gatullo and admired the amazing sunset over the Lake Garda. Here are some snaps from that trip:

Have you ever been to Sirmione? Did you like it?

Chocolat Frey Visitor Centre in Buchs, Switzerland

Switzerland is country well worth a visit not only for its majestic mountains, beautiful lakes, and lovely cities, but also for delicious Swiss chocolate. One of the places where the public is allowed to see how chocolates are made, and of course eat some chocolate is Chocolat Frey Visitor Centre in Buchs, close to Aargau. I’ve visited this chocolate experience few months ago and would highly recommend it to sweet-tooths of all ages.

Winter stroll around the Tribschen quartier in Luzern

It has been a while since I last virtually took you around Luzern. Way too long! For that reason, I took my camera with me when I went for a walk around the Triebschen neighbourhood few days ago. I snapped some photos of this lovely area I would now like to share with you.

German name for Lake Lucerne is der Vierwaldstättersee, French is Lac des Quatre-Cantons, Italian Lago dei Quattro Cantoni and Rhaeto-Romanic Lai dals Quatter Chantuns – all can be roughly translated as “the lake of the four cantons”.

2017 – A Year in Review

It seems to me every year goes by faster. It seems like I wrote recap for 2016 yesterday and not a year ago. Now is again end of the year and time to look back at all the amazing trips and travels of 2017:

  • I’ve visited 4 new countries: Cambodia, Serbia, Singapore & Thailand, stepping into 2018 with the total count of 30 visited countries
  • I swam in the Andaman sea for the first time

Ta Phrom Temple. Siem Reap, Cambodia (November 2017)

Perfect Start into the Ski Season at Melchsee Frutt

Winter came to Europe early this year. First snow covered the mountains and allowed many non-glacier ski resorts in the Alps to open earlier than usual. My husband and I took advantage of this situation and started our ski season on the first weekend in December. As this was also the weekend of my birthday, we celebrated it while swishing down the perfectly prepared slopes of my favoured ski resort Melchsee-Frutt in Central Switzerland.
