Three years of Slovenian Girl Abroad

On 17th February three years ago my blog came to existence. To celebrate this special occasion I would like to get more personal with you and share with you answers to some of the questions asked by my fellow bloggers and readers over those past three years:

  • What inspired you to start your own blog?

After I moved to Switzerland, I mainly communicated in German and I’ve lost contact with English. I started to notice my written English was getting worse and worse. I needed practice and blog seemed to be a great tool for that. So, three years ago, I decided to give blogging a go and Slovenian Girl Abroad came to life.

  • What motivates you to keep blogging?

Good feedback from my readers.

  • Which are your 5 favourite blog posts on your blog?

It was hard to choose just five, but at the moment are my favourite posts: Dark Side of Elephant Tourism in SE Asia, Winter Wonderland at Mt Rigi, Hanging out with the Snow Monkeys in Japan, Predjama Castle and Cows of Switzerland (3).

  • Have you ever lived abroad? If yes, what places?

I’m originally from Maribor, Slovenia, but I live abroad for quite some time now. I currently live in Lucerne, Switzerland. Before, I used to live in London and in Paris.

  • If you could move to any part of the world right now, where would you go and why?

I’m quite happy with my life at the moment and am not thinking of moving anywhere. If I would have to move, I would probably consider moving somewhere closer to my family and Slovenian friends again.

  • Do you prefer to travel alone or with others? Who is your best travel partner?

I’m not too keen on traveling solo. I did it once and it was nice experience, but I much prefer sharing travel experiences with the people I love.
My best travel partner is definitely my husband. He is probably the only person in the world with whom I can hang out 24/7. Not to mention, he can tolerate all my whims. He really is the best!

  • If you could go back in time to live a trip or a day exactly the same way, where would you go?

To Seychelles, to a day my husband and I went on a snorkelling trip to Grande Soeur and Félicité islands. I swam with the turtles for the first time which was unforgettable experience. In the afternoon we went to Anse Source D’Argent where we’ve witnessed the most beautiful sunset ever. It was a perfect day.

  • What is your favourite book?

Whole A Song of Ice and Fire series written by George R. R. Martin

  • What is your favourite museum?

Uff, that is difficult question. My favourite history museums are Imperial War Museum in London, and Museum of Contemporary History in Slovenia, my favourite natural history museum is Natural History Museum in London, my favourite open-air museum is Ballenberg Museum near Brienz in Switzerland, my favourite technology museum are Museum of Transport in Luzern and Science Museum in London etc.

  • Have you got a pet?

Yes, two fat cats called Lili and Živa (named after the Slavic goddess of life and fertility).
Two dogs and other cats you might seen on my Instagram live with my parents in Slovenia.

Last, but not least, I would like to thank tell you that I’m extremely grateful for all the support through your likes and comments here on blog, on YouTube and on my social media channels: FacebookTwitter and Instagram! I couldn’t have done all this without all the support from all you readers. Thank every single of you for sticking around this long! I really do appreciate!
