Ski trip to Melchsee Frutt

What to do on a sunny February day in Switzerland?  You go skiing! Previous Saturday my husband and I did just that. We went to Melchsee Frutt, one of our favourite places in Central Switzerland.

Gorgeous Melchsee Frutt

My husband and I already skied at Melchsee Frutt before (you can read about it here and here). This trip was no much different than previous ones. Again, we’ve skied the both ski areas: Bonistock and Erzegg.

A lift connecting the Melchsee Frutt village with Erzegg ski area runs over a frozen lake

Melchsee Frutt is small ski resort with only 36 km of pistes. Despite its small size is a great place to ski. The ski runs at Melchsee Frutt are not the longest, nor the most versatile in Switzerland, but an average skier (as am I) has more than enough ski runs to keep entertained for the day.

Previous Sunday there the conditions were great. The weather was ideal for skiing – cold but sunny. There were more than enough snow. The ski runs were well maintained and remained great for skiing even in the afternoon.

Amazing snowy landscape

The infrastructure at Melchsee Frutt is good. The lifts and gondolas manage the crowds of skiers very well. Despite the resort was a bit busier than usual, we’ve never waited longer than few minutes to get the lift.

Chairlift to Bonistock

To all the things mentioned, add the stunningly beautiful landscape and convenient location only 40 minutes drive from Luzern, and you’ll get the main reasons we kept returning to ski at there.
