2016 – A YEAR IN REVIEW

Another year has flew by and again it is time to look back and remember all the awesome things I’ve experienced in this past year. Here is a quick recap of my 2016:

• I’ve visited 2 new countries, Iceland and Seychelles, biding goodbye to 2016 with total count of 26 visited countries.
• I’ve visited Scotland for the first time.
• I’ve swam in Indian ocean for the first time

• The longest time I’ve been away from home in 2016 was 14-days trip to Seychelles in November and December

• I’ve been to 5 new cities: Edinburgh, Lyon, Reykjavík, Vaduz, and Victoria
• I’ve visited 3 museums: FIFA Football Museum in Zürich, National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, Post Office and Stamp Museum in Vaduz

• I’ve spent 5 days skiing at different ski slopes in Switzerland: Engelberg, Flumserberg, Grindelwald, Melchsee-Frutt and Zermatt
• I’ve spent 1 day sledging in Grindelwald

• I did 9 hiking trips: to Arthur’s seat in Scotland, to Svartifoss waterfall in Iceland, to Bürgenstock (2 times), Bannalp, Oeschinensee, Stoos, and Stanserhorn in Switzerland and to Nid d’Aigle in Seychelles
• I hiked on the glacier for the first time: at Sólheimajökull in Iceland

• I’ve seen 7 waterfalls: Rhein Falls and Giessbach Falls in Switzerland, Brúarfoss, Gulfoss, Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, and Svartifoss waterfalls in Iceland.

• I’ve been at 18 beaches: Portorož beach in Slovenia, Reynisfjara beach in Iceland, Anse Barbarons, Grand Anse (Mahé) Anse Source D’Argent, Anse Reunion, Anse Severe, Anse Patates, Anse Cocos, Grand Anse (La Digue), Petite Anse, Anse St. Sauveur, Grand Anse (Praslin), Anse Lazio, Anse Georgette, Anse Boudin, Anse Parnel, and Anse Intendance at Seychelles

• I’ve been to 2 caves: Škocjan Caves and Postojna Cave in Slovenia
• I’ve visited 2 glacier lagoons: Fjallsárlón and Jökulsárlón in Iceland

• I’ve attended 1 amazing concert: Adele at Hallenstadion in Zürich
• I’ve been to 1 fair: International Motor Show in Geneva

• I’ve spent 2 day relaxing at spa and wellness at the Mineralbad & Spa Rigi Kaltbad
• I’ve attended 1 sports event: UEFA Euro 2016 1st Semi final in Lyon

• I’ve been to 6 UNESCO World Heritage sites: Þingvellir National Park, Historic Sites of Lyon, Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch, Škocjan caves, Edinburgh Old Town and New Town, and Vallée de Mai Natural Reserve

• I’ve checked 10 things off my endless bucket list: swam with the sea turtles, pet a horse in Iceland, got lost in Edinburgh, skied at Zermatt slopes (again), attended UEFA Euro 2016, hiked the Bannalp area, hiked to the Oeschinen Lake, hiked Stoos area, went snorkelling in Seychelles and saw Alpine descent of the cattle.

2016 has been eventful year in which I’ve gathered some amazing memories. Hoping that 2017 will be even more wonderful year for all of us, I’m wishing you happy New Year!
