Cows of Switzerland

When imagining Switzerland, the image of cows decorated with large bells munching grass or lay about on green pastures surrounded by the majestic mountains, comes to your mind. The truth is not much different. During the summer, cows are still to be found at the mountains. Here is collection of cows we’ve had a chance to encounter on our trips around Switzerland. Enjoy it!

No, no no! German cows are Milka mascots. Milka is not Swiss! I mean, technically, it is of Swiss origin, but since the company merged with German companies and the production was moved outside Switzerland, it rather considered German than Swiss. In fact, it is hard to find Milka chocolate anywhere in Switzerland. 🙂
But yes, I agree, Swiss cows look happy. They do spent most of their lives out in the open, grazing. 🙂

Yes, Swiss are Lindt, Cailler, Frey, Camile Bloch, Lederläch, etc. I admit, I am a sweet-tooth. I have a special sentiment to Swiss chocolate and I get upset if someone consider Milka Swiss.😊 It is just not as good as other Swiss brands. It doesn’t deserve that title. 🍫 🙂

Imagine you carrying that heavy bell and listening to its music every move you take. And having all that green grass for lunch, every single day. You would be annoyed too! 🙂 LOL

What a unique post! When I think of Switzerland, thoughts of chocolate, banks and mountains come to my mind…in that order. The cows are great, especially that top photo. It looks like a advertisement for milk or butter 🙂

Apart from cows, chocolate, banks & mountains are probably the most commonly associated with the Switzerland. 🙂
Thank you for your compliments! 🙂

Love the pictures of the cows. My girls loved the bells on the cows and sheep. They bought a souvenir of a cow with bell to take back to Australia. Unfortunately our Australian cows don’t play lovely music.

Thank you Helena! 🙂 Now you at least have your Swiss souvenir cow to play a music with her bell, if Australian cows don’t make any. 😉

I love the Swiss cows Urska! I also loved the sound of the cowbells – we noticed them especially when we staying in Weggis on Lake Lucerne. There were meadows behind our hotel and you just got used to hearing the bells each day it was really nice. You’ve taken some great photos too 🙂

      Thanks! 🙂
Najverjetneje bodo oktobra krave že nastanjene v toplih hlevih v dolinah. Če bo še toplo vreme, morda uzreš kakšno na kakšnem travniku v dolini. 🙂 Kje po Švici pa se boš potepal oktobra?

I looooove cows with tinkling bells! They just look so cute!

We just came back from Switzerland! We were only in Lucerne for a quick weekend, so we spent most of our time around the lake, so we didn’t have any time to go hiking! Another time perhaps.
    ‘Love Switzerland nevertheless lol!

Good choice! Chilling by the lake is the best in those summer days . I’m happy to hear you liked Lucerne. 🙂
