Previous Sunday my boyfriend and I planned to go skiing. Early in the morning when the alarm started buzzing, none of us wanted to leave warm bed. Sounds familiar? We woke up few hours later, when it was already too late for day-ski trip. As we didn’t want to waste our day in front of the TV, we decided to sledging to Engelberg.
Engelberg has four locations with sledge runs: Gerschnialp (3,5 km run), Brunni (two 2,5 km runs), Fürenalp (1 km run) and Titlis Glacier Park. First three are only operating in the winter-time, when there is enough snow. Titlis Glacier Park lies at the glacier and it is open in the summer. In winter-time there is also run at Trübsee.
After 37 minutes drive from Luzern, we arrived to Engelberg. We decided to gave Brunni runs a try. We bought our sledging passes and took a gondola to Ristis – the starting point for winter activities at Brunni – “the sunny side of Engelberg”.
We rented our equipment at Yeti-Park: old-school sledge for me and air-board for my adrenalin-seeking boyfriend.
Chairlift took us to the start of two 2,5 km long sledging runs. There the fun began…
SUMMARY OF THE DAY
Expenses:
- Sledging day-pass: 36 CHF/person
- Sledge rental: 8 CHF
- Air-board rental: 15 CHF
- Parking fee: 5 CHF

Oh my gosh I want to do this! No formal hills with tows around Copenhagen (in fact, not that many hills around Copenhagen!) In Oregon, where I’m from – you can do this, but they are big innertubes and the hill is nowhere near as long as this! Looks like really good fun! Thank you for sharing with #FarawayFiles – Happy New Year! Cheers from Copenhagen! Erin

I feel you Erin. When I lived in London I missed hills and mountains. Luckily, I moved to Switzerland which is ideal for such fun activities on snow. Thank you for hosting #FarawayFiles! – I’m already looking forward to the next ones! Happy New Year to you too!

Oh what fun Urska! I want to give this a go. I feel at my age it is way to late to learn skiing and snowboarding. I always feel guilty about just wanting to partake in après ski activities without doing some exercise so sledging might just be the ticket! Thanks for joining us on #FarawayFiles

Yes, sledging might be your excuse to attend après ski without feeling guilty, hehe. Thank you for creating this fun linkup. 🙂

That slope looks so inviting, Urska. It’s been so long since I’ve been skiing – and I’ve only ever been sledging on a couple of inches on the hilly fields of the UK. Thanks so much for sharing with us on #FarawayFiles

Fantastic to get such good feedback about FarawayFiles. Thank you! It’s forecast to snow in the south of England where I live this weekend but we never get very much, just a sprinkling.
